Craps Strategy

Craps is not a game of skill and revolves around the roll of a dice. It is impossible to predict the roll of those dice and even though some outcomes are more likely than others, the likelihood of this is built into the payouts of each bet. This means that there is no way to gain an edge over the casino in the game of craps. This however, does not mean that the game is completely without any strategy.

The strategy comes not from how the game is played, but instead from the Types of Craps Bets that are made. It is very important to only play some bets in craps as there is a massive range in house edge between some bets and others.

The bets with the lowest house edge in craps are the Don’t Pass and Don’t Come bets which have a house edge of just 1.36%. Not too much worse are the Pass and Come bets which have a house edge of 1.41%. These aren’t the worst bets in a casino but there are still games that have a much lower house edge if played with optimal strategy. These are the only bets that should be played in craps because some of the other bets have a ridiculously high house edge.

Bets such as Yo, Hi-Lo, Craps, C&E all have a house edge of 11.11%, betting on 2 or 12 has a house edge of 13.89% and betting on a 7 has a house edge as high as 16.67%! Betting on any of these is going to mean money is lost much faster than if playing the lower house edge bets.
